This update 3rd July 2024
Hello Hello – ApolloGz for taking several moons to post public events coming up over summer 2024. I’ve been lying low throughout this current major lunar standstill and given my creaky knees and the bodily operations looming, I’ve only taken these few gigs:-
Thursday 11th July 2024
Lairg Community Hall, Sutherland
Gala Week Children’s Concert. 2.00pm
Friday 26th and Saturday 27th July 2024
Belladrum Tartan Festival, near Beauly, near Inverness
Venus Fly Trap Stage: 12.00 noon both days
Mr Boom’s appearance at Bella 2024 doesn’t seem to have been mentioned in their online programme – so do let folks know that his spaceship will be landing!
Friday 2nd August 2024
Fringe by the Sea Lodge Grounds, North Berwick
Lodge Stage Marquee: 11.00am
This will be the first event of Fringe by the Sea 2024. Nice to be asked back and be doing the opening concert. It’ll be a week of fun.
On the afternoon of Sunday 4th Aug, I’ll be playing again (sans lampshade) with daughter Flora as AM/FM on the Lighthouse Stage in the Lodge Grounds. This year we’ll have old muso mates Eric Wales and Roy Martin joining the duo. Playing time to be confirmed. However, since it’s a free outdoor musical afternoon with several music acts playing, get along for lunch!
Saturday 7th September 2024
Orkney International Science Festival
King Street Halls, Kirkwall: 2.30pm
I’m not planning on taking any more gigs after the Orkney Sci Fest, until I know the date of an awaiting knee operation. However, I will be working on a new album – Dream Along with Mr Boom – and some video projects . . .
I’ll keep you posted. Thanks for your interest. Keep singing and dancing.
Meanwhile – looking back – you can still view Mr Boom’s online appearance, during September 2021, at the Orkney International Science Festival 2021. The link will lead you to a notice saying “This event has passed” . . . but fear not . . . just be sure to scroll down to the You Tube links for Singalong with Mr Boom and Mr Boom’s Polyhedral Workshop, which will give young geometricians cluses as to the workings of the Space Ship Imagination.
Mr Boom‘s first post Covid restrictions concert happened on Thursday 12th August 2021, at Fringe by the Sea in North Berwick, in the Belhaven Big Top at 10am. To his surprise 366 people turned out to join in the fun.
“A bit of a leap year attendance”, thought Mr Boom.
During Lockdown Mr Boom made his first live on line Zoom appearance during the Solas Makeshift Festival on Sunday 21st June 2020 – Midsummer Solstice – watched by folks as far around the globe as New Zealand
He also joined in a Zoom Space Day for Special Needs Adults on Wednesday 24th June, organised by Perth District Council
A Mr Boom on line transmission was made during the Virtual Belladrum Tartan Home Festival on Saturday 1st August 2020
Mr Boom appeared on line at the virtual Orkney International Science Festival in September 2020. https://oisf.org/fest-event/singalong-with-mr-boom-3/
